Intro: This article is for the people who think the worst things to happen to this game are synchros,xyzs and pendulum monsters. you seem them alot on dueling network or any dueling website who think these monsters ruin the game. i have to tell you that they are here to stay and honestly almost every deck needs them with the exception of a few decent decks.
Every deck that tops these days have either of the 3 types of cards i mentioned.


Why the extra deck is Important?
1)You Have a Supply of Good Powerful Monsters That You Can Whip out at Anytime
2) Some of Those Monsters Are Good vs the Tier 1 of Today
3) Those Monsters Are Helpful to Make Decks Go at Their Peak Potential.

1) You Have a Supply of Good Powerful Monsters That You Can Whip out at Anytime
For the last few formats since 5d's show, the extra deck is important to today's game because you have a bunch of powerful monsters that almost ever single deck needs these days to compete against the top decks. Why wait to draw a monster with 2500 when you can make it form your extra deck without having to waste alot of cards to bring your card out.
The archetypes that are being realized need the extra deck so if you like a "virgin" extra deck untouched by the filth of new monsters, then you are up the creek without a shotgun.

Qliphorts are the one deck today where you don't need a extra deck to depend on and it only is there to storage the destroyed pendulum monsters.

Synchro monsters are one of those decks where you need to plan out which cards you are going to use and which ones in your extra deck you want to save for later.

Xyz monsters are good for getting out of a few jams and some of good vs some good decks of today.

2) Some of Those Monsters Are Good vs the Tier 1 of Today
Most of the cards in the extra deck such a Abyss Dweller is still considered a good vs shaddolls. Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk is still a good extra deck card that is like having 2 d.d crows on a xyz monster that can banish up to 2 cards from the grave which is good if you do not want to side d.d crows.
Number 103: Ragnazero is another good card vs Fire fists at one point and good vs yosenju who use the same tech card: Fire formation: Tenki


3) Those Monsters Are Helpful to Make Decks Go at Their Peak Potential.

Number 39: Utopia

Synchro
Level 5: Ally of Justice Catastor, T.G Hyper Librarian
level 6:Goyo Guardian
level 7: Black Rose Dragon, Moon Rose Dragon
level 8: Red Dragon Archfiend, Stardust Dragon, Crimson Blader, Scrap Dragon

These are just examples of what good extra deck monsters are good for decks to be getting from top 32 to wining the whole tournament.


4. It Never Hurts to Experiment
If you hate the xyz,synchro, and pendulum monsters i get why you hate them. Everyone was in the same boat as you and it is something that we all  had to get use to in order to be better players but i am sure alot of those extra deck haters never used them at all. i suggest experimenting with them, then you can base your opinions on your experiences rather then just looking at the card. Decks these days run xyz and/or synchro monsters and some run pendulum monsters in ocg. This is one of those get with the times or find another way to win because the game has changed. If you do not like these monsters, i suggest using monarchs who do not need the support if an extra deck.
